Chateau Latour 2004

Saturated red-black colour. Gentle, earthy, soft aromas. These are not hugely forthcoming at present, but there is a fleshy appeal here which I wasn't expecting. On the palate, the wine is rich, dense, textured, fleshy, powerful, juicy and thick, with notes of blackcurrant, chocolate and graphite. The ripeness of it is truly impressive. Estate director Frederic Engerer told me that he felt this was the first truly complete Les Forts, ready to compete with the best of the Second Growths.
