Château Latour 1970

Still dark red-black in colour. Aromatically evolved, and highly attractive: little fruit (the ghost of dark plums) but a fragrant, mentholated warmth and a dusting of spice. On the palate, fine concentration and a cloak of dark currants. Deep, round, full savoury and expressive. Very satisfying, but not quite the layered quality or the sheer beauty of the greatest vintages of Latour.
