Since it's good to have these things on public record, I wrote this back in the mid-1990s in the Evening Standard about the draught version of this great ale. Back then it was brewed at Henley, of course, whereas now it is brewed by Refresh at Witney ... but nothing has really made me revise my opinion; it's still a great, great beer, thanks to Refresh's efforts to transfer the unique double drop system to Witney.

I have recently tried the bottled version, which is good but not perhaps great; it really needs to be the cask-conditioned version (in the hands, of course, of a pub landlord who has truly mastered the art of cellarmanship and nursed the beer to perfection).
