Andrew Jefford writes and broadcasts about different places on earth, and the foods, drinks and scents connected with them. He has won a number of different distinctions for his work, the latest being a shortlisting as one of the six finalists in the Eleventh Arthur and Marjorie Goodchild Prize for Excellent English, awarded by The Queen's English Society, in July 2009.

Update on 2009

Andrew and family are living in Australia until April 2010, based in Adelaide, South Australia. Andrew is working as a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide and Winewriter in Residence to the Wine 2030 Research Network; the principal aim of the year is to research and write as much as possible of a book on the role of place in Australian wine, though I am also presenting some seminars at the University.

I’ll be continuing to travel in Australia's wine regions until early March. You can get in touch via the ‘Contact’ page of this website; wine samples and press packs are welcome, especially from vineyards and wineries in hard-to-reach areas (post to 12 Rawson Penfold Drive, Rosslyn Park, SA5072). Don’t hesitate, though, to contact me about other matters: I continue to relish the view north, south, east and west from this waymark on the Great Southern Ocean.
